is an architecture, interiors, and planning firm in Philadelphia with deep expertise in urban mixed-use / multifamily / commercial / cultural projects. We work primarily with developer clients to realize projects which create value for their owners as well as for the surrounding community while creating beautiful and harmonious environments for all. We create vibrant, award winning, mixed use developments at a variety of scales, rooted in their place, respectful of history, and focused on the future. We are architects of the city.
We are a new firm with a substantial history. The founder and namesake of MY Architecture, Michael Ytterberg, was for nearly 20 years design principal and leader of the multi-family practice at BLT Architects, one of Philadelphia's premier architecture firms. MY Architecture is a continuation of the studio led by Mr. Ytterberg at his previous firm.
MY Architecture of Philadelphia and WKL Architecture of Wilkes-Barre have been strategic partners for the past four years, working on Phase 1 and Phase 2 of the Hamilton, a 576 unit apartment building in Center City, Philadelphia. WKL Architecture is a Women’s Business Enterprise with 25 years of award-winning work for repeat clients in northeast Pennsylvania, particularly in the higher education market. Whatever the job requirements, together our firms have the expertise, manpower and geographic reach to serve clients throughout the Mid-Atlantic region.
We are hands-on designers committed to maintaining a scale of practice that guarantees the personal attention of firm principals to each client and project. We realize or surpass the vision of our clients while meeting or exceeding stakeholder needs.
We pride ourselves on ingenious solutions that enable the highest and best use of every property. Ongoing investigations into building systems support the creative application of technology and materials. The balance of innovation and tradition in each project is guided by an intimate knowledge of market tested solutions.
Style is an integral part of the success of any project. Design excellence, rooted in craft, is essential to that success. While giving each project its appropriate expression, we believe that our work oscillates between two modes: classically modern, with an emphasis on the timeless, and modern classical, a fresh take on tradition.
The process of building involves multiple participants and substantial risk. We are committed to a collaborative and iterative process that delivers maximum value by leveraging the expertise of all participants. In a market like Philadelphia it is always difficult to match budgets and desires. Successful projects require flexibility, ingenuity, and determination – and these skills are applicable everywhere.
Value Over Time
More than points on a chart, sustainability is a commitment to the efficient use of available resources to maximum effect in the near and long term. When budgets are tight, every move must be effective to create long lasting, efficient projects that create a better environment for all.
