The master plan for this prominent site on Logan Square, one of the original public squares of Philadelphia, proposed a mixed use development of residential condominiums, extended stay hotel, retail and parking. Responding to the adjacent public buildings and square, a 23 story residential condominium building and a 26 story extended stay hotel building were organized around a green pocket park and entry court. Parking was concealed between the towers with retail and other amenities at the perimeter. Continuous street frontage retail surrounded the property on three sides. The total development was to include 350 residential units and 525 cars in the parking garage.
In a change of plan from the original master plan, it was decided to begin with the extended stay hotel, with 218 units, 25,000 square feet of retail and structured parking for 273 cars. A simple, elegant composition of glass and concrete, the building was to take its place on Logan Square as a vision of the luxurious future of life in the city.
