Gova Development Company wanted to hire a western firm for the concept design of its project on a prominent site across the Yangtze River from the center of Chongqing. The project shares a block with the Agricultural Bank of China and is situated just to the west of the Science and Technology Museum and the Grand Opera Theater. The land is rather hilly as is, famously, all of Chongqing, and  the project included six underground levels of parking with 653 cars, 3 levels of partly underground retail at 95,000 square feet total, and 33 levels of office at 596,030 square feet total.

The lower large format office floors are faced with patterned glass that constitutes an abstracted image of the gabled roofs of the traditional houses that once occupied this hillside. The pattern also references the wooden screens and textiles of traditional Chinese dwellings.
