Long owned by a notorious real estate speculator, this property on Market Street in Philadelphia, just east of city hall, had laid fallow while the rest of the Market East corridor had been redeveloped over the decades following World War Two. This proposal for a 33 story office tower would return the property to appropriate use in the heart of what was then America’s fourth largest city. It would anchor the eastern half of Center City.
